Nevada Auto Insurance Verification Program (IVP)
The entire purpose of the verification program is to identify uninsured motorists to the state. This program is only meant to identify motorists not carrying Nevada auto liability insurance as that is the only mandated auto insurance in the state.
If an individual gets identified as being uninsured they will have to prove that they have current auto insurance… if they cannot prove that then their vehicle registration will be suspended. To reinstate the vehicle registration the person will have to pay the Nevada DMV a fee (of up to $250).
If stopped by Nevada law enforcement with a suspended vehicle registration the license plates will be physically removed from the car and the car will be impounded.
